AFoCO Attends INAFOR 2019 (5th International Conference of Indonesia Forestry Researchers)

The theme of INAFOR 2019 is “Enforcing Forest Restoration and Waste Management for Better Environment and Socio-Economic Benefits”. Organized as a biennial event, this year’s conference intends to serve as a meeting place and forum for local and international scientists and researchers in forestry and environmental fields to exchange knowledge, share about research findings, and discuss issues and challenges related to forest restoration and waste management.

During the Opening Ceremony of INAFOR, Mr Chencho Norbu, Executive Director of AFoCO, delivered a speech during Plenary Session I on research and development in global states. He called for coordination and collaboration across different sectors and at the national, regional and global levels to reach global objectives such as the SDGs and Paris Agreement targets. He also shared about AFoCO’s efforts in engaging stakeholders of member countries in education, awareness-raising activities and discussions on thematic areas such as landscape restoration and climate change adaption.

Other panelists from the session include Ir. Sarwono Kusumaatmadja (Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Environment and Policy), Prof. Daniel Murdiyarso (CIFOR), and Dr. Robert Nasi (CIFOR).
