Celebrating World Environment Day at the AFoCO RETC

On 5 June 2020, a tree-planting ceremony was held at the AFoCO Regional Education and Training Center (RETC) in Myanmar to celebrate World Environment Day, which aims to spread awareness and promote actions for the protection of the environment.

The theme for this year’s World Environment Day is ‘Biodiversity’. Some 65 public officials from Hmawbi Township and the Central Forestry Development Training Center (CFDTC), helped plant Delonix ,Lagerstroemia, Calophyllun , Mimusops , Madhuca , Plumeria , Tabebuia , Arundinaria , Thyrsostachys , Mussaenda , Caesalpinia and Mesua species within and in the vicinity of the RETC. Temperature checks were conducted upon entry into the RETC and masks were worn at all times during the event. Participants also complied with the safe distancing measures mandated by the COVID-19 protocol.
