Forest fire vehicles donated by the Korea Forest Service have recently been spotted on the roads of Myanmar! Upon receiving the forest fire vehicles from the Korea Forest Service, the Forest Department of Myanmar distributed 5 vehicles to Minbu Township, Nay Pyi Taw, Popa Mountain and Tachileik for use by firefighters and officers of the Forest Department. 3 vehicles are being kept at the AFoCO RETC for use in our regular training courses on forest fire management.

Although the management of forest fires is an integral part of forest management, many countries lack an integrated forest fire management system as well as advanced fire suppression and monitoring equipment. AFoCO is working with our Member Countries to implement cooperation projects on fire monitoring and management and help build the capacity of forestry officials in dealing with forest fires.
