(AFoCO RETC) Invitation to Participate in the “Young Forest Scientists Awards”

Young professionals play a vital role in shaping the future of sustainable forest management and climate action by bringing fresh perspectives, research innovation, and strong commitment to ecosystem resilience.

In this regard, AFoCO is launching the Young Forest Scientists Awards under the Asian Forest Living Lab Initiative, with the support of the National Institute of Forest Science (NIFoS) of the Republic of Korea. As part of this initiative, AFoCO is pleased to announce the “Young Forest Scientists Awards,” scheduled to take place from 29 to 30 September 2025 in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

The program will invite young students, graduates, and early-career researchers (aged 18–35) from 15 AFoCO Member Countries, including Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Lao PDR, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Republic of Korea, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Viet Nam. Other Member Countries are welcome to participate voluntarily at their own cost. Applicants should submit (1) a scientific poster (PDF and PPT files, A1 size, vertical layout) or a research topic overview (PPT file), and (2) an abstract (maximum 500 words) with personal photograph. All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of experts from AFoCO and partners institutions, based on the quality of research, clarity of presentation, which include: (1) climate change adaptation and (2) mangrove ecosystem restoration by 24 August 2025.

A maximum of ten (10) successful candidates will be officially announced on 5 September 2025 and recognized during the AFoCO Working Group Meeting. Certificates and presentation opportunities will be provided.
