AFoCO and SM Entertainment Join Forces for a Greener Concert Experience

On November 16, 2024, AFoCO, a leading organization dedicated to environmental sustainability, teamed up with SM Entertainment to raise awareness about carbon footprints among concertgoers. This collaborative effort aimed to make the “2024 SMile Music Festival (SMF)” concert a more eco-conscious event.

To achieve this goal, AFoCO set up a booth at the concert venue where attendees were invited to participate in an online carbon footprint assessment. The assessment consisted of a series of questions about their mode of transportation, travel time, accommodation choices, and waste generation. By collecting this data, AFoCO was able to calculate the total carbon footprint of approximately 300 concertgoers, with nearly 200 individuals actively participating in the assessment.

The collected data will be shared with SM Entertainment to provide insights into the environmental impact of the concert. AFoCO hopes that this information will motivate SM Entertainment to adopt more sustainable practices and prioritize environmental protection in future events.

This partnership between AFoCO and SM Entertainment marks a significant step towards a greener entertainment industry. By encouraging fans to consider their carbon footprint and making informed choices, AFoCO aims to foster a culture of environmental responsibility.

Building on the success of this initiative, AFoCO plans to expand its carbon footprint awareness campaigns to other events and collaborate with various stakeholders to promote sustainable practices across different sectors.
