AFoCO launches first joint exhibition with NEPA and IKEA Korea

November 2022 – AFoCO will host its first joint exhibition under the theme of sustainable living with home furnishing retailer IKEA Korea and outdoor brand NEPA. The exhibit will be held at IKEA’s Gwangmyeong store in the Republic of Korea from 16 to 29 November.

Officially titled ‘Green Life Must Go On,’ the exhibit will explore how people can take action and adopt habits to help combat climate change through three display areas — ▲Five Actions for a Greener Life, ▲Green Room featuring a sustainable lifestyle showroom, and ▲Let’s Forest wall, which engages the public in creating forests in Kazakhstan.

The first section outlines five actions that can be easily taken in everyday life, including wearing more layers of clothes, turning off the faucet, planting trees, using tumblers, and carrying sustainable bags. As part of an effective way to raise public awareness of climate change, Korean fir trees native to the higher mountains of the Republic of Korea threatened by climate change will also be on display. Following this, a showroom furnished with sustainable products from IKEA and NEPA provides a glimpse into living a green lifestyle. Lastly, a wall depicting deserted areas will be unfolded, which will be soon filled with green leaves by visitors as a booth activity, transforming it into a pine forest in Kazakhstan next spring.

With this exhibition, AFoCO launches its Let’s Forest campaign to protect forests in Asia, with the forest to be created this time being the campaign’s first forest. By participating in the campaign, individuals, companies, and organizations, can help create forests by planting trees, upcycling burnt wood, protecting forests through plogging activities, and raising awareness about the value of forests as precious resources.

During the exhibition, visitors can receive the ‘Green Life Must Go On Package’, composed of a variety of items from AFoCO, NEPA and IKEA through participation in the booth, and NEPA and IKEA Korea will host a separate SNS event to promote the exhibit.

Mr. Jin Sunpil, Vice Executive Director of AFoCO, welcomed the joint exhibit with IKEA Korea and NEPA and added that the collaboration with global companies supporting corporate social responsibility will certainly spread the message that every individual’s effort is crucial in responding to the global climate crisis.
