December 9, 2021 – Since 2018, AFoCO has been facilitating donation activities to support capacity building in the forestry sector of AFoCO member countries, especially the transfer of proven technology. Towards this endeavor, various types of forestry equipment and machines have been generously contributed to the AFoCO as well as member countries who have expressed specific interest in acquiring certain items.
On 8 December 2021, JY SYSTEM, a Korean supplier of GPS surveying equipment, has generously donated two (02) units of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) surveying equipment to further promote capacity building and to foster the transfer of proven technology for sustainable forest management. The donation ceremony was held at the AFoCO Secretariat to commemorate the contribution made by JY SYSTEM.
The company is known to provide excellent equipment and services in the field of surveying and construction, supplying GPS surveying equipment to leading construction companies, general surveys, research institutes and national institutions.
Executive Director Mr. Ricardo L. Calderon expressed sincere appreciation to JY SYSTEM for the donation, emphasizing that the donation will undoubtedly contribute to and assist AFoCO and its Member Parties’ continuous efforts to foster sustainable forest management, as the donated GNSS surveying equipment, which has the error range of only 2cm, will play a critical role in surveying and mapping the project sites.
The Secretariat will proceed to facilitate the delivery of the drone to the AFoCO Regional Education and Training Center (RETC) in Myanmar to support our training courses related to forest inventory and other forest-related activities once the situation in Myanmar improves.
