Secretariat reaches out to the diplomatic missions and the National Institute of Forest Science

The AFoCO team led by the Executive Director paid courtesy calls on the Ambassadors in Seoul. For the first quarter of 2021, Executive Director met with Excellency Ambassadors of Indonesia, Mongolia, the Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Viet Nam.

The visits were to share about and keep the diplomatic missions of Member Countries in Seoul well-informed on the activities of AFoCO as well as plans of activities and projects in the pipeline.

The 2021 Fellowship Officials joined the courtesy calls and meetings. It was an excellent opportunity for our Fellowship Officials to meet the Ambassadors and to promote a broader network with the diplomatic sector.

The Secretariat also visited the National Institute of Forest Science of the Republic of Korea and met with the President. The President highlighted the importance of keeping a close forest research network to share on on-going studies and stimulate collaboration in scientific research.

Further arrangements will be made to permanent missions of Parties, potential Partner countries, and international organizations based in Korea to explore partnership opportunities. Broadening AFoCO’s network beyond the region and reaching out to non-members is important to explore possibilities of partnership and collaboration through bilateral or multilateral platforms.
