On April 14 – a meaningful tree planting event was held near Manas International Airport in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, where 1,000 new trees were planted by a passionate volunteer team from T’way Air, in collaboration with the Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO) and the Forest Service of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The tree-planting event was part of “Welcome to Forest’way” project, an environmental initiative launched by T’way Air to support their expanding network of eco-friendly destinations. More than 40 participants, including volunteers from T’way Air, Forest Service officials, and AFoCO representatives, gathered to plant 980 elm, 10 juniper, and 10 pine trees across 1 hectare of land. Building upon the success of the first planting event in 2024, this year’s initiative included not only new plantings but also maintenance activities and the installation of irrigation systems to ensure the flourishing of last year’s trees.
The project was joined by key figures including Mr. Sadyrov Talantbek Kaparbekovich, Deputy Director of the Forest Service; Kwang-jae Kim, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kyrgyzstan; Mr. Aman Mamaev, Director of Manas International Airport; and Mr. Chang-woo Lee, President of the Korean Association in Kyrgyzstan. The activity was also part of Kyrgyzstan’s national “Green Heritage” campaign and aimed to improve the local environment, combat climate change, and promote biodiversity conservation.
The genuine passion and dedication shown by the volunteers left a deep impression on the local authorities. A representative from the Forest Service of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed gratitude, noting that participating in the event was a valuable and meaningful experience, symbolizing growth, hope, and care for future generations. The representative also emphasized appreciation for the inspiring example and commitment to green development demonstrated during the event.
Volunteer participants shared similarly heartfelt reflections, describing the experience as one that strengthened their connection to nature and inspired a renewed commitment to environmental stewardship. This event reflects the strong collaboration between T’way Air, local partners and AFoCO to build a greener and more sustainable future in Kyrgyzstan and beyond.
