The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration emphasizes the urgent need to restore degraded forests, especially in the tropics, threatening millions of people. AFoCO and ITTO have jointly conducted FLR capacity-building workshops since 2021 with regional partners, engaging 121 participants from 15 countries to address concerns in implementing FLR strategies. The workshops highlighted the lack of financing in the forestry sector, prompting discussions on synergies between FLR and REDD+ to access climate finance. Recognizing the need for improved capacities in monitoring forest carbon assessment for accessing climate finance, the current workshop aims to enhance understanding of climate mitigation benefits through FLR interventions.
