On May 3, the Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO) celebrated its entry into force at Grand Hyatt Seoul with some 90 guests including Ambassadors of the member countries, the 1st Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Korea Forest Service, academia, and other organizations.
Soon after ROK’s proposal for the establishment of AFoCO at the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit held in Jeju, ROKin June 2009, the long-waited AFoCO officially entered into force on 27 April 2018.
For the inauguration ceremony, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korea Forest Service, as well as international organizations based in Korea such as the GCF, GGGI, and UNDP, as potential partners, were present to extend congratulations. The AFoCO also invited the students from the member countries who are taking AFoCO scholarship program as well as partner universities. The Ceremony provided the opportunity to share the historic moment and celebrate AFoCO with all those involved and future partners.
