Global forest experts gathered ideas on promoting Forest Landscape Restoration in the tropics

On 14-16 November 2018, AFoCO jointly organized ‘Expert Group Meeting for Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) in the Tropics’ with the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) and the Royal Forest Department (Thailand) in Bangkok, Thailand.

This meeting aimed to review global FLR initiatives and programs implemented in the tropics and to identify possible synergies to be captured to efficiently meet the internationally agreed targets to increase forest areas. The meeting also recommended on the scope and key elements to be included in the new FLR guidelines which will be developed by the ITTO in the coming year with other members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forest (CPF).

The Meeting was attended by 28 experts from relevant International Organizations, government agencies each representing developed economies, developing countries, Asia-Pacific, Africa and Latin America, Non-Governmental Organizations, and the private sector.
