Seoul, Republic of Korea – The Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO) and Save the Children Korea have launched a joint fundraising campaign in support of the My Forest Child (MFC) Mongolia project, a project dedicated to restoring forests and strengthening climate resilience for vulnerable communities in Mongolia.

The partnership brings together AFoCO’s regional expertise in sustainable forest management and Save the Children’s decades long commitment to protecting children’s rights and wellbeing. Together, we aim to mobilize public support for climate action that makes a real difference , for children, for forests, and for the communities that depend on them.

About the MFC Mongolia Project

Mongolia faces severe environmental challenges. As of 2020, approximately 76.9% of its territory has been affected by desertification. In response, Save the Children launched the MFC project in Nalaikh District in 2024. By 2027, the project aims to:

  • Deliver climate education programs and youth climate clubs reaching more than 3,000 local residents.
  • Plant 4,730 trees, including shelterbelt species and fruit trees
  • Establish a 5-hectare reforestation site that supports carbon sequestration and ecosystem services

Fundraising Through CAMP

The fundraising campaign is hosted on CAMP (Climate Action Matching Platform), AFoCO’s platform connecting forest-based climate projects across Asia with donors and partners. The campaign runs through November 2026, and every contribution goes directly toward the MFC Mongolia project.

CAMP is a AFoCO’s platform that connects forest based climate action projects across Asia with donors and partners seeking to support tangible environmental and social impacts. By linking on the ground projects with potential supporters, CAMP promotes broader participation in forest restoration, climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable livelihood development throughout the region.

A Growing Partnership

The collaboration is rooted in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between AFoCO and Save the Children Korea on 26 May 2025. Since then, the two organizations have continued expanding their joint work, advancing forest restoration, climate resilience, and environmental awareness through collaborative programs across Asia.
