Seoul, 22 September 2026 — The Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO) has received its accreditation certificate from the Green Climate Fund (GCF), completing the final step of its accreditation process.
The certificate follows the GCF Board’s approval of AFoCO’s accreditation in March 2026 and confirmation that AFoCO had fulfilled the conditions required before certification. It provides formal confirmation of AFoCO’s status as a GCF Accredited Entity, allowing the organization to move from preparing for accreditation to developing and submitting GCF project proposals with its Member Countries.
As a regional Direct Access Entity, AFoCO can seek GCF funding for small-sized projects with environmental and social risks up to Category B / I-2. Working with national authorities and partners, AFoCO will use this accreditation to develop forest-based projects that respond to countries’ climate priorities, including landscape restoration, resilient livelihoods and climate adaptation.
AFoCO’s focus now is to turn its accreditation into well-designed projects that bring climate finance to forests and the communities that depend on them.
