The BAC-MAN Geothermal Reservation is both an important energy-producing landscape and a Key Biodiversity Area threatened by long-term forest degradation. Through a science-based public-private partnership, the project restored 100 hectares using approximately 62,500 native, threatened, and endemic tree seedlings. It also established an arboretum, developed propagation protocols, and strengthened community participation. The project provides a scalable model for integrating native-species conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and private-sector engagement into national forest restoration programs.
