Training on Forest Fire Management Information System (FFMIS)

REGULAR TRAINING COURSE

The Secretariat would like to invite Member Countries to the training on “Forest Fire Management Information System (FFMIS)” to be held virtually from 1 to 5 November 2021. The course aims to enhance the capacities of AFoCO Member Countries in the implementation of forest fire management activities and related undertakings. Furthermore, the outputs and deliverables (i.e. Regional Concept Note) will be part of the baseline information for the development of a regional initiative to be discussed at the “High-Level Workshop on Forest-related Disaster Management and Impacts of Climate Change” slated in 2022.

We kindly request each Member Country nominate two (2) government staff/officials involved in forest fire management and related work for a minimum of one year who are less than 35 years of age. The nominees are expected to deliver presentations and post-training assignments such as country reports and action plans, leading to the project concept note development in order to obtain a Certification of Completion. A nominal training allowance will be provided for the two participants. Additional staff interested in participating in the lectures, discussions, and group work as authorized through respective domestic regulations are also encouraged to be awarded appropriate participation certificates.

To facilitate the preparation for the training, nominees ‘/participants’ information should be submitted to Ryang Soozin (e-mail: [email protected]) by 15 October 2021, including the list of participants using the attached template (Annex-1). Please refer to the Course Guidelines and the Lecturers’ Information (Annexes 2 and 3) for more information.
